Trip to North Carolina

We took our annual trip to see The Morans in North Carolina last weekend. They live just outside of Raleigh in Apex. It looks like something straight out of Pleasantville, with perfectly manicured lawns and kids playing all over the neighborhood. It was a great trip that we look forward to every year, and can't wait to go back next year.

Check out what we woke up to the first morning we were in North Carolina. Brody learning Foosball. Brody had a blast playing with Patrick and Christopher.

Bowling

Brody and his friends went bowling on Friday. A great time was had by all. Brody is still getting the idea of what is going on. He sure does get excited cheering for the ball to knock down the pins.

Chase is Three Months Old!

Where has the time gone? I can't believe Chase is 3 months old! He is doing very well. He is starting to drool especially when he is trying to fit his fist in his mouth. It will be interesting to see if he sucks his thumb like Brody does. He sleeps very well. He goes to bed around 10 each night and he wakes up around 8. He has been going down for two naps each day which keeps him fresh. Here is video of Chase sitting in his Bumbo.

Piper's Birthday Party

We had a great time at Piper's Birthday Party on Saturday. The theme was Fancy Nancy. There were all sorts of arts and crafts along with a photographer doing photo shoots for everybody. Below are some highlights from the party.

















Chase is a great sleeper for sure. Here he is at the end of the party. Brody never would have been able to do this. Below that is Chase falling asleep on his play mat this morning while Brody was getting ready for school.

Chase at Two Months

Chase had his two-month-old checkup last week. He received his first round of shots, which he took like a man. He measured in at 13 lbs and 24.5 inches tall. That puts him roughly in the 90th percentile for height and weight.

Chase moved into his crib about a two weeks ago. It was a little rough at first, but he has been sleeping really well the last week or so. Our pediatrician recommended we use the Ferber Method of sleep training. Basically it calls for having a nightly bedtime routine, while teaching the baby to self-soothe. When Chase starts to cry, we wait 5 minutes, then we go in and comfort him without picking him up. If he starts to cry again, then we wait 10 minutes to comfort him again. Finally, if he is still fussing, then we wait 15 minutes and go pick him up to comfort him and start the process over again. After a few nights, it works like a charm. The key to success is putting the baby down while he is still awake. It is hard to do because it almost assures that he will start fussing right away. The reason it is key is the baby needs to be aware of his surroundings in case he wakes up again in the middle of the night.

Lets hope I didn't jinx myself by talking about how great Chase is sleeping!

Brody Update

Brody is growing up so fast! He took the month off from school to stay home with Mom and Chase. During his month off, he took an art class at Nova with his friends. He did projects each week and at the end of the month received a portfolio of his work.

Brody is also doing very well with his potty training. He has moved on to big boy underwear with minimal amount of accidents.

Over the weekend, Brody saw Cars 2 with his friend Vinnie. This was his first trip to the movie theater. He did a great job in the movie and is a big fan of Lightning McQueen and Mater.
